The attention to detail, the sweeping vistas, the sheer “size” of the films is so impressive to me. When I discovered that Weta Workshop, the creators of costume/character/set design for the films was going to have a booth at Calgary Expo, I decided to build a small (well, for me, small) version of their logo, in hopes of giving it to them, as a way of saying thanks for all the wonderful work they’ve done over the years.

I walked over with my 15×45 inch board in tow, and waited patiently until it was my turn. I introduced myself to Richard, and explained what I do. He mentioned that he had seen my booth and told me “Your work is exquisite”. Now that’s a wonderful word, and coming from Richard, high praise indeed. I told him I had built the logo for Weta Workshop, and that (if it wasn’t an imposition,) I wanted them to have it.
