Q: Are those really made of LEGO?

A: Yes, yes they are.

Q: Really?

A: Really.

Q: How many pieces are in (name of piece)?

A: It’s tricky to say. I use all different sizes of brick, and I tend to not count as I go. I can tell you how many “studs” there are in a given work.

Q: How long did that take?

A: Depends on the size of the piece. The big ones are anywhere from 40-100 hours, usually spread over a number of days.

Q: Can I buy any of these?

Q: How about custom stuff? I have this picture of my girlfriend, and I want you to make it in LEGO.

A: Then you came to the right place. I do custom pieces and commission work a lot. Every piece is different, and has it’s own challenges. email me, and we’ll talk. dave@brickwares.com

Q: Is it expensive?

A: That depends on what you call expensive. LEGO is not a cheap hobby, and using a LOT of it to make your picture tends to add up. Really, it depends on what size of mosaic you’re looking for, which colors, etc. For a smaller piece, you’re looking at a number in the hundreds of dollars, for a big piece, probably into the thousands. It’s art, it’s original, and people will definitely talk.

Q: What are you planning next?

A: Not sure, i’m always throwing a few ideas around in my idea, but I’ll let you know as soon as I start on something.

Q: Do you do this full time?

A: If you order 10 5 foot by 5 foot mosaics, I’ll certainly be full time for a while. dave@brickwares.com Seriously though, I have a “day job” to pay the bills, but I’d rather be doing this.
